TOP 10 SEGA GENESIS GAMES PART 1

10. Aladdin

Disney always did it right when it came to Sega Genesis / Mega Drive games. Aladdin was no exception! The game is just beautiful visually, capturing the great art of the movie extremely well. And overall, this game is just a solid play and a fun time. The right amount of difficulty mixed with fun factor- and you got yourself a Sega Genesis classic!

9. Streets of Rage 2

The defining beat-em-up of the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive. As a whole the trilogy is superb, however Streets of Rage 2 stands out amongst the trio. Streets of Rage 2 takes everything that the first threw at you and makes it better. More levels, more characters, more moves, and more fun! This beat-em-up titan can go head to head with any across any platform. And I mean, really, dat music tho.

8. ToeJam & Earl

ToeJam & Earl is one of the most unique gaming experiences that I ever had as a child. You essentially go from level to level finding items to help ToeJam & Earl rebuild their spaceship. Along the way you'll encounter some great music, atmosphere, items, and enemies that make ToeJam & Earl potentially the most unique Sega Genesis / Mega Drive game there is. I still enjoy the sequel, but nothing will ever quite capture the comedic gaming essence that the original ToeJam & Earl did.

7. Castle of Illusion

I actually already did a review for Castle of Illusion and I will link that below. But to touch on it again briefly- Castle of Illusion is one of the best platformers on the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive. There is unparalleld Disney atmosphere & music, tight controls and gameplay, and just enough difficulty to give you fits at times. This is one that you'll enjoy every minute of and wish that you could get more. I spent a lot of my childhood playing this classic... Oh, if there was only more!

6. World of Illusion

... OH THERE'S MORE! World of Illusion is the follow-up to Castle of Illusion. Only this time it's starring Donald Duck which allows for the ability for a 2 player playthrough (How cool is that)! You can still expect great atmosphere, graphics, music, controls, etc. with World of Illusion. At the time I didn't think it was possible for a Mickey Mouse centered game to top Castle of Illusion- but World of Illusion succeeded with one swipe of Mickey's magical blanket. Long after turning off the console you will still be replaying the melodies and atmospheric moods in your head. This is truly a gaming "experience" in every sense of the word.
